Waiver & Assumption of Risk
WAIVER, RELEASE & ASSUMPTION OF RISK Please read before signing up. By checking the box, you agree to the following for yourself and any family members (including children) you register. 1. Voluntary participation. Taking part in the Half Hollow Sikhs Community Picnic and its games and activities (the "Event") is entirely voluntary. I am choosing to take part for myself and the family members I register. 2. Assumption of risk. The Event includes recreational and athletic activities — such as tug of war, kabaddi, volleyball, soccer, pickleball, cornhole, arm wrestling, sack races, kite flying, and other games — that carry inherent risks, including slips, falls, collisions, sprains, strains and other physical injury, as well as risks from weather, the outdoor setting, and the actions of other participants. I knowingly and voluntarily accept and assume all such risks, known and unknown, and take full responsibility for my participation and that of my family members. 3. Release of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and agree not to sue the Event's organizers, the Half Hollow Sikhs community group, and their volunteers, coordinators, captains and hosts (the "Organizers") from any claims for injury, loss or damage arising out of or related to the Event — except for injury caused by the Organizers' gross negligence or intentional misconduct. 4. Fitness to participate. I confirm that the people I register are able to take part in the activities they choose, and will stop or sit out anything that feels unsafe. I am responsible for supervising my own minor children at the Event. 5. Medical care. In an emergency, I authorize the Organizers to seek or arrange reasonable first aid or emergency medical care, and I accept responsibility for any resulting costs. 6. Photography. The Event is a community gathering where photos and video may be taken, and images may be shared within the community. 7. Children. If I register anyone under 18, I am their parent or legal guardian and I agree to this waiver on their behalf. 8. General. This waiver is governed by the laws of the State of New York. If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. By signing up, I confirm I have read and understood this waiver and agree to it for myself and the family members I register.
